Dr. Mairéad Finn (Coordinator)
Mairéad joined DSA Ireland in July 2016 as DSAI Co-ordinator. She holds a PhD and a BA in Sociology and Social Policy from Trinity College Dublin, and an M.Econ.Sc in European Public Affairs from UCD. Her PhD research was a semi-ethnographic study of migration to rural Ireland, focusing on immigrants' lives and experiences within the housing system in 'new immigrant gateways', or non-urban areas. Prior to joining DSAI, Mairéad worked as a researcher on projects related to migration, youth and international students. She has published on these topics and also lectures part-time on the Sociology of European Societies.
Mairéad has worked previously at the Economic and Social Research Institute, at the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and working Conditions, and at the European Trade Union Institute for Research. Prior to her PhD, Mairéad worked as an English Language teacher in Japan, on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. Mairéad has also worked and lived in Brussels and in the Middle East.

Vanessa's background is in community development in Kenya. She holds a PhD in Political Science on the impact of democratic structures on political attitudes and behaviour in Kenya. Her research interests are in public participation, public opinion research and innovation in political systems.
