The Gender Study Group of the Development Studies Association of Ireland (DSAI), in collaboration with The Gutter Bookshop, is delighted to host an exciting FREE public opportunity to engage with Sara Ahmed at the launch of her latest book No Is Not a Lonely Utterance: The Art and Activism of Complaining.
This event will take place on Monday, October 6th, 2025, from 6.30–8.00 pm at The Gutter Bookshop, Cows Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin 8 (D08 DK27). The evening will feature a public reading from Sara Ahmed, followed by short discussions with Dr. Nita Mishra (University of Limerick) and Dr. Carol Ballantine (University of Limerick), and will conclude with a book signing.
DSAI’s Gender Study Group is committed to lead dialogue and critical reflection on the intersections of gender, development, and social justice. Sara Ahmed’s work on power, institutional accountability, and feminist resistance resonates deeply with these objectives.
DSAI through the Gender Study Group seeks to create a space where academics, practitioners, students, activists, and the wider public can come together to engage with pressing questions about gender, justice, and voice. The collaboration with The Gutter Bookshop ensures that this important conversation reaches beyond academic circles, reinforcing DSAI’s commitment to accessible, public-facing scholarship that inspires change.
