Ireland and the Asian Development Bank partnering to tackle poverty in developing Asia and the Pacific, and Opportunities for Irish Students

UCC Centre for Global Development will host speakers from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a webinar to strengthen the ties between developing Asia and Ireland in line with the Government 'Global Ireland – Delivering in the Asia Pacific region to 2025’ Strategy.

Speakers

Paul Ryan: is a member of Ireland's Ministry of Finance Management Board and leads its International Finance and Climate Division. The Division is responsible for developing and implementing policy on: (i) Ireland’s membership of, and relationship with, 15 International Financial Institutions (IFIs) including IMF, World Bank, EIB and AfDB; and (ii) Climate Action. The Division also undertakes the Department’s Risk Management and Compliance Functions.

Vijay Padmanabhan: An Engineer-Urban Planner, Vijay is currently a Director at the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Strategy, Policy and Partnerships Department. With over 24 years of professional experience, he has led multi-sector teams in designing and delivering large and complex projects on urban development, water and sanitation across several countries in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Jan Hansen: Mr. Jan Hansen joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2008 and works since November 2018 as Senior Planning and Policy Economist in the Strategy, Policy and Partnerships Department. Between 1995 - 2005, Mr. Hansen worked in the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank of Sweden. Mr. Hansen has a Masters of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Stockholm.

Agnès Surry: Ms. Surry is part of the team leading the replenishment of the Asian Development Fund (ADF) 13. She holds a Master's degree in Economics and International Relations (2007) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Econometrics (2004) from Sciences Po Paris and École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France.
