EADI have a series of new virtual dialogues lined up in the coming weeks, with the first event taking place on Tuesday 19th January, 11am (CET).

The speaker will be Dr. Francis Onditi from Riara University in Kenya, and the topic of the virtual dialogue is Modeling a Pandemic (COVID-19) Management Strategy for Urban Slums Using Social Geometry Framework.

The talk will be based on an article published in open access in the European Journal of Development Research in 2020.

Utilizing social geometry framework to model a pandemic (COVID-19) management strategy in densely populated informal settlements in Kenya, the central claim is that the containment strategy that was instituted to control spread of COVID-19 failed to recognize the socio-cultural and livelihood complexities of the urban slum residents.

Francis Onditi PhD heads the School of International Relations and Diplomacy, Riara University, Kenya. Dr. Onditi is also enlisted as a Distinguished Author/Research Professor at the Institute of Intelligent Systems, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

As this is our very first event this year, we would love to see a few familiar and new faces around. We would also like to see more early-career researchers attend our events, so please do share the details with PhDs and postdocs who may be interested in the talk.
