When: Wednesday 1st May, 6:30pm
Where: Ui Chadhain Theatre, Room 2041B, Arts Block, Trinity College Dublin (see map)

Around the world, famine continues to be a major cause of human suffering, driven in large part by conflict. Ireland has a unique historical experience of famine, and humanitarian organisations, researchers and human rights groups across Ireland work extensively in food security and nutrition programming in conflict, protection of civilians, IHL, human rights law, and international social justice. Eliminating famine and hunger worldwide is also a key focus of Ireland's new international development policy, A Better World.

This panel discussion brings together leading international humanitarian, legal and policy experts on famine prevention, response and accountability to explore what more can be done to eliminate famine in the 21st century.

Speakers include:

-          Margherita Stevoli, Global Rights Compliance;

-          Kate Munro, Action against Hunger UKand

-          Matthew Cogan, Humanitarian Unit, Irish Aid.
