Gorta Self Help Africa and Concern Worldwide are pleased to announce this year`s Annual World Food Day Conference.

Date: 16th October, Time: 9am-1.30pm
Venue: Supper Room,
 Mansion House, Dublin 2

The event begins at 9am with the launch of the 2015 Global Hunger Index (GHI) Report published annually by Concern Worldwide, in collaboration with the Institute Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and Germany's Welthungerhilfe. A presentation of the GHI will be followed by a panel discussion on the state of hunger in the world.

The conference will also include presentations on the role of agriculture in delivering the aims of the Sustainable DevelopmentGoals, including the perspectives of three African speakers with differing experiences of agricultural development:

  • Dr. John Mutunga,CEO, Kenya Farmers Federation
  • Diborn Chibonga, Malawi Smallholder Farmers Association
  • Kalongo Chitengi, Self HelpAfrica, Zambia

Other speakers will be:

  • Dr. Benjamin Davis, Deputy Director of the FAO Division for Agricultural Development Economics
  • Dr. Pauline Riak, Executive Director of Sudd Institute, South Sudan
  • Dr. James Kinsella, Senior Lecturer in Agriculture and Food Science, UCD
  • Dr. Jason Hickel, London School of Economics
