Call for DSAI Postgraduate Network Study Group Leader

DSAI invites applications for the role of Postgraduate Student Network Convenor and Postgraduate Steering Committee Representative.

The postgraduate student representative is the link between DSAI, the postgraduate community, development researchers and NGOs across DSAI. 

As per DSAI's Constitution (see Article 6.9), the postgraduate representative is required to be residing in Ireland and currently studying on the island of Ireland. Ideally, this role is held by someone currently undertaking a PhD or a Master’s by Research locally, as this ensures strong engagement with postgraduate students across institutions and supports networking activities throughout the island.

This is a voluntary position and will provide the student with valuable insights, experience and networking opportunities. The role will be supported by the administrative coordinator.

Role Description:

  1. Convenor of the DSAI Postgraduate Network Study Group.
  2. Attend and represent postgraduate student members on the DSAI steering committee, which meets approximately 7-9 times per year. 
  3. Provide a postgraduate student perspective on DSAI’s activities, plans and communications.
  4. Foster and maintain links between postgraduate students and student groups with DSAI.
  5. Assist with the planning and delivery of DSAI's seasonal school.
  6. Promote DSAI membership among students.
  7. Support and promote DSAI social networking channels.

The role of postgraduate student representative will provide an excellent opportunity for a master’s or PhD level student working on development research to; network with others working in this area, gain a broad perspective on and contribute to the management of an international development initiative and to organise and contribute to DSAI activities and events.

You will be part of one of a number of dynamic DSAI study groups.

1. Why you would like to lead the postgradute network study group.

2. What skills you can bring to meeting the goals of DSAI.
