Research Symposium on Irish-Funded Development Research
The DSAI Research Symposium on Irish-Funded Development Research is a webinar series showcasing the value of collaborative, evidence-based research in shaping development policy and practice. Through sessions focused on different countries, research programmes and Sustainable Development Goals, the series provides a space for researchers and project partners to present findings, reflect on their experiences and discuss the wider contribution of Irish-funded research to sustainable development.

This lunchtime webinar will showcase two Irish-funded research projects addressing food and nutrition security through climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable food production. The session will feature the SANKOFA project, which brings together climate-smart agriculture, indigenous knowledge and tradition, alongside SOLARAINS: Mechanization and Sustainable Processing of Climate-resilient Cereal Grains in Zimbabwe’s Arid Areas to Ensure Food and Nutrition Security.
SDG 13: Climate Action
Held on 27 May 2026, this webinar brought together researchers working across Zambia, Uganda and Tanzania to share findings from Irish Aid-funded projects addressing SDG 13: Climate Action. The presentations explored climate-resilient agriculture, energy efficiency and wastewater heat recovery, and nature-based approaches to extreme heat in informal settlements.

Pilot Research Symposium
Launched in September 2025, the pilot Research Symposium webinar spotlighted Irish-funded development research projects in Malawi. Presentations addressed household air pollution, community-based infant support, and decentralised renewable energy, highlighting innovative responses to development challenges and the value of collaborative research.
